Are you taking care of your valuables on a regular basis? If your answer is yes, then you must have bought this before 2-3 months. You might be an exception but if truth is told, then there is human tendency to be in the zenith of exciting phase before buying a new thing and after buying, that excitement phase graph extends downwards and eventually to null and that firmly goes in line with taking care of these valuables.

Tip 1 : Tires

  • Checking your tires on a regular basis is a vital step for your safety because in your vehicle, tires are the only point of contact and it affects your vehicle handling, braking, and safety. Tires must have the correct air pressure, tread depth, balance and alignment for optimum performance of the car.
  • Always check for air in your tires whether it’s properly inflated or not before every drive. Cars suspension system is adversely affected and your fuel consumption also increases if you are driving an underinflated tire.
  • Make the inspections of your tire more frequent so that it will be easier for finding even a tiny problem and fix it before it becomes a more expensive and time-consuming issue.

Tip 2 : Oil change

  • There is no better approach to drag out engine life and expand its productivity than with regular oil changes. It is suggested that you must check and change oil on your car every 3,500 miles for regular oil and every 5,000 miles for synthetic oil. If you add the oil yourself, do not over fill. Over filling can damage the engine.
  • Oil in an engine is like the blood of our body. It lubricates the pistons as they move up and down in the cylinders. Without oil, the metal-on-metal contact makes so much warmth that in the long run the surfaces weld themselves together and the engine seizes.

Tip 3 : Keep clean

  • If you want to see your car shining like new forever, wash it regularly and keep clean. Bird droppings, dead bugs, or limestone dripping from the basement parking will damage the paint if not washed off in time. Always use a car shampoo while cleaning your car that will stop paint from peeling and rubber from tearing.
  • Wax your car at least once or twice a year. Waxing keeps your car shining and protects the paint. it covers minor scratches and slows down the corrosion.
  • In order to make your tire of the car black and shiny, apply some tire shine. Just spray the tires and wipe off the dirt.
  • Also you can keep your interior clean by regular vacuuming, cleaning the floor mats and carpets, cleaning fabric seats and upholstery so that the resale value of the car will be high.

Tip 4 : Windshield wipers

  • It’s very common thing for us to ignore windshield wipers in our car, but it does not take much time to realize that it is the most important safety features when we face with heavy rain or snow while driving.
  • Dirt, debris, and road grime cause damage to wipers, and sunlight breaks down their rubber edges. Many wait to repair them or change when they require them the most.
  • But you need to maintain regularly so as to maximize visibility, efficiency and reliability of the windshield by keeping them clean always and the windshield wipers should be replaced if you see the wipers chatter, smear or streak reducing driving visibility.

Tip 5 : Light

  • Light plays a major role in a car while driving. It helps us to drive in night and warns other drivers to drive safe in the road according to the light signal. So if any of the lights are not functioning properly means it leads to dangerous driving and can turn into an absolute nightmare.
  • Lights are normal wear items that require periodic replacement of the faulty one by proper inspection.
  • Always keep clean the headlights, tail lights and signal lights because external dirt and debris can dim the light and will not be properly visible to the driver and also to the fellow drivers which may lead to road accident.

Tip 6 : Fluids

  • Fluids are the other lifeblood of the car that keeps the car running very smoothly and making your journey comfortable.
  • Brake fluid, transmission fluid, coolant, power steering fluid, windshield washer fluid, etc. are the important fluids used in a car and need to be checked regularly.
  • Checking the fluids regularly helps your car fight against breakdown, mechanical damage, and even possible accidents.

Tip 7 : Brake, belt and battery

  • Until a problem arises, we never care about the brakes of our car since it is out of focus from our sight. Condition of the brakes on your car depends on how much you take care of it. If you ignore this car brake maintenance regularly, then it could threaten the safety of the driver and the co-passengers.
  • Talking about the belt, commonly known as serpentine belt of the car is essential for the functioning of water pump, alternator, power steering, air-conditioning compressor and charging systems of the engine. Everything stops working when your belt breaks, slips and eventually wears out. By inspecting and replacing your belt regularly, you can minimize the risk of breakdown.
  • Coming to the car battery, check it regularly and make sure its terminal connections are clean, snug and protected. Signs of corrosion or leakage indicate that your battery is no longer operating as before. Always unplug car accessories and turn off lights when you are not driving your car. Being a responsible car owner, you must follow these car care tips. This will keep your car in good running condition and will keep you safe and in control on the road. These also guard against major repairs and unexpected breakdown of your car. It takes a short amount of time to check these important parts of your car, but can save money, fuel, and even lives in the long run. Don’t forget to maintain your car regularly all year round!

    Frankly saying, car care just seems like burden to me. All the time, I surf for different DIY tips but never follow them. I like your short simple tips. Especially the info-graphics made it easy to understand. These are the basic tips that a car user should know at-least. I think the fluid and the oil change are the most important to check.     This is the one I was looking for. My goodness, I found it. I have brought a brand new Mercedes-Benz A-Class just the day before yesterday and quite excited to know all about its care & maintenance.     Thanks for the tips. I agree, every user must know these things. We can take little risk with the windshield wiper or lights but any issues with brakes and fluids need to be fixed as soon as possible.
